Join Gurmukh in Supporting Manjushree Orphanage
You're invited on a once in a lifetime journey to one of the most remote orphanages in the world, Manjushree Vidyapith, with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa and Sat Nam Foundation. On March 26th, 2019 a group of 6 yogis will travel to the high Himalayas to establish connection and create a relationship with Lama Thupten Phuntsok and the 300+ orphans he is housing and schooling. Our mission is to support the establishment of sustainable systems to provide clean water, healthy food, education, clothing, infrastructure and reliable medical support for the children. Our goal is to raise $108,000 to begin this effort. The group that travels to Manjushree in March will identify areas of need, problem solve, and take action. Sat Nam Foundation will oversee the use of funds and guarantee 100% of donations are being used directly to support these efforts. We will continue to share updates for this project via FB and our newsletter. You can learn more and donate here: https://www.satnamfoundation.org/manjushree Contact us if you have any questions or ideas: seva@satnamfoundation.org

Kirtan Aid: Standing Rock
Markus from Mirabai Ceiba introduces the important fundraising program for Standing Rock. 30 musicians and bands have come together to donate their music as a thank you for donations made to Standing Rock. Donate Now: https://igg.me/at/bKgi2L4qfWE The people of Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota have stepped up in powerful non-violent protest to protect the life-giving waters that run through their land. Their efforts have impeded the $3.7 billion Dakota Access oil pipeline known as DAPL. They don't want to be described as heroes. This feels like their duty. Now that the cameras have stopped rolling, the water protectors have a long fight ahead of them. In order to ensure that this temporary delay becomes a lasting victory, they have to stay at Standing Rock. But winter is here, and the dangers of staying there in these severe conditions are becoming more intense each day. Big Gratitude to Estas Tonne, Tina Malia, Lyla June, Jai-Jagdeesh, Rising Appalachia Music, The Dogon Lights, Nessi Gomes, Gurunam Singh, Todd Boston, Ajeet Kaur, Trevor Hall, Jamshied Sharifi, Carrie Tree, BOLE, Snatam Kaur, Alma Tierra Music, Simrit, Deva Premal and Miten, The GuruGanesha Band, Kailash Kokopelli, Nirinjan Kaur, Ram Dass Khalsa, @Mirabai Ceiba

The situation is tough for the Huitchol of the Mexican Sierra. In attempts to escape cultural imperialism, this indigenous group fled to the high mountains and resisted western development. Until about 20 years ago, there were no roads to their communities; electricity was introduced about 2 years ago. The government installed toilets, sinks and pipes, though the pipes does not flow water! Their culture is kept strong through their relationship with corn and beans, their spiritual practices involving deer and peyote, and their art. As Western civilization continues to creep nearer to their isolated communities, the youth are becoming interested in the 'outside world.' They are vulnerable to the influence of the narcos, as an average family earns around $1,000 a year (through art sales, welfare, ceremony leading). On this trip, we discussed potential ways of supporting young adults, though we are aware to proceed with grace and consciousness! Thank you for supporting! www.satnamfoundation.org
