Seva Retreat: Mexico

An immersion into Kundalini Yoga, Sacred Music, and Service with the children of Tashirat with Jai-Jagdeesh and Family, and Michael Jaidev.

About this Event

THE KUNDALINI YOGA, SACRED MUSIC & SEVA RETREAT

November 18 - 24, 2019.

Take a journey to one of Mexico's magic towns in the sacred mountains of Tepoztlan outside of Mexico City. Surrounded by these mystical mountains, you will spend a week with the sweet songs of Tashirat's children and the sweet songs of Jai-Jagdeesh. You will experience powerful yoga classes taught by Sat Kartar Singh, Raviinder and Avtar. You will learn the wisdom of Tantric Numerology with Avtar. And through it all, you will share Kundalini Yoga and joy with these children raised in the powerful magic of Tepoztlan.

During our time together, we will rise early to open space with morning sadhana and chanting, share the practice of Kundalini Yoga with the children, go on hikes with the children, serve with the children, share healthy food and visit sacred sites.

This will be a special event, as it will be hosted by a family: Jai-Jagdeesh, Ravi Inder, Avtar, & Sat Kartar. It will bring a new dynamic to the seva immersion experience.

Your housing will be at Amatista - a retreat center that was built to support the orphanage with 100% of its revenue. There are paths through the forest that connect Amatista and Tashirat. View the retreat center here.

Your fee includes your lodging and food, but you will have to pay for your own travel to Tepoztlan. The program will begin with dinner on the 18th and end with breakfast on the 24th.

ABOUT TASHIRAT ORPHANAGE AND CHILDREN'S HOME

Tucked in the sacred mountains of Tepoztlan, Tashirat is the home to 35+ children. Tashirat is dedicated to provide children with a healthy, loving home and a brighter future.

The children at the Tashirat orphanage are some of the most vulnerable, having been defined as "not-adoptable" by the Mexican system. They are raised by permanent staff members who have dedicated their lives to them. Their disabled children know that even as they become adults, Tashirat will always be here for them, helping them to become more independent within the context of a safe and supportive environment where they can prosper and grow in their adult lives.

Sat Nam Foundation has identified Tashirat as an orphanage that will benefit immensely from additional support. They have great infrastructure, though their day-to-day costs are preventing them from helping more children.

SEVA & DAILY SCHEDULE

Our integration with the kids at Tashirat will depend greatly on the group size, skills, and energy levels. A potential project is to work with the kids in their greenhouse, help plant trees for their gray water recycling systems, sharing yoga and music with them, sharing art projects, books, stories, etc. Ideally we will be serving side by side with the children, as this is Tashirat’s request! There will be flexibility on programming, and we are up for suggestions.
