Kirtan Aid: Orphans of Rishikesh (April 2014)

Tucked into the foothills of the Himalayas, high on a hill overlooking the River Ganga and sacred pilgrimage city of Rishikesh, is a haven and home for destitute children. Called Ramana’s Garden after an Indian saint and run by a woman named Prabhavati Dwabha, whose life work is the care of abused and abandoned children, this magical home has a stellar school, organic gardens, and programs for playful healing and spiritual growth, all so important to rehabilitate the children who have been victims of tragedy.

100% of the profits from this album will go towards building a green, sustainable dormitory at Ramana’s Garden to expand the number of children this remarkable place can reach. Many of the artists whose music is on this album have been to Ramana’s Garden and chanted with the children themselves and all agree it is life-changing! Help us build a home for the orphans of Rishikesh!

Kirtan Aid: Chants for Hurricane Sandy (2012)

Kirtan Aid ramped up its reach in 2012 when Hurricane Sandy hit close to home.  We reached out to many kirtan singers and the response was overwhelming!  Raising over $27,000 for the Red Cross earmarked to Hurricane Sandy relief, we realized exactly how much our community could do when it came together to help.  Over 33 kirtan artists participated in this project, including Krishna Das, who had been effected by Hurricane Sandy, Deva Premal & Miten, Snatam Kaur, David Newman and many others.

Kirtan Aid: Chants for HAITI (2010)

Our first project arose out of great need.  In 2010, a devastating earthquake hit Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. Hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives, and those who remained behind were in the most dire of need. We partnered with Doctors without Borders to bring urgent medical care to the Haitian population. The ‘Chants for Haiti’ digital album features the music of Snatam Kaur, GuruGanesha Singh, Nirinjan Kaur, Satkirin Kaur, Mirabai Ceiba and Gurunam Singh. Chants for Haiti has raised over $12,000.
